Share A Bike

Share A Bike was an initiative taken up by me and my 4 seniors to launch Bicycle Sharing in India. The idea was conceived at Panjab University(PU) Idea Catalyst. which was a 54 hour entrepreneurship event, held at University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET), PU, Chandigarh, India. It was an event to connect the budding entrepreneurs with investors and mentors, and also an event to provide them platform to brainstorm and present ideas , to find teammates, work on prototyping ideas and to find funding for implementing the ideas.
 

After the ideas pitching round, I formed team with 4 seniors. We conducted research and surveys to find out the resources available, number of people interested, competition and the system that would work the best in India for bike sharing. To reduce the project to a manageable size, we decided to implement the system starting with our university - Panjab University,Chandigarh. From 110 interviews conducted, we learnt that 81% of students, professors and residents were interested in paying to use a bicycle sharing service. 
 

We found that the 4th generation bike sharing system will be most successful in India . But due to the current political and social conditions , and the funding problems , we decided to put the project on the hold for now.
